Adele and Jenny teach children in a way that is so innovative and creative. We use the Montessori philosophy and materials in conjunction with our experience and creativity.

Adele Carey
Adele grew up in Dalkey, County Dublin, where she attended the University College of Dublin, graduating with a degree in archaeology and Spanish. She subsequently trained as a Montessori teacher at the AMI Montessori College of Dublin earning diplomas in primary Montessori education(age 3-6) and elementary Montessori education (age 6-12). Adele moved to the US in 1981 when she began her career as a Montessori teacher at the Kennebec Montessori School in Central Maine, teaching all levels over twenty five years and acting as head of school for those years in conjunction with teaching. Apart from her thirty years of teaching experience Adele has played Irish traditional music with several groups playing the harp and guitar.Adele moved to the west coast this summer as her husband recently accepted a position at Willamette College. Her son is, as of Friday, a student at Willamette College. She is delighted to be part of the Community Roots School where she has enjoyed getting to know our wonderful children.
Jenny McCord
Jenny is originally from Texas and received her bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with an Early Childhood endorsement from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Jenny then moved to Oregon with her husband and began teaching in the Woodburn School District where she helped pioneer the dual language program at her school. She received a Crystal Apple Award from the district for her efforts in helping create the dual language program as well as her ability to carry out reading in a creative way. Jenny then completed the masters program from Western Oregon University in Education. Her sixth year of teaching, she began working in Silverton, where she met a group of people interested in creating a Montessori charter school. For over a year, this group met to design and create a school for their community. Jenny joined the school as a teacher where she would then begin her sixth year teaching and a new road of education and way of teaching.
